How to Create More Time-Freedom in Your Business

How to Create More Time-Freedom in Your Business

Let's talk about time freedom.

The average person works a 9-5, 40 hours a week.

If you're a business owner, you've likely, at least in part, started a business with intent to experience more freedom - especially time freedom.

But did you know that the average entrepreneur works around 60 hours a week? And some go up to 95! That's 20 hours MORE a week than the average employee.

That's 3120 hours a year.

In contrast, I've been working an average of 15 hours a week for the last 9 years (plus plentttty of holidays... like right now I'm about to enjoy a few weeks focused off on pleasure, creativity and down time).

That's 780 hours a year (minus another 100 for holidays).

That's 2240 more hours of free time that I've built into my life.

Free time that I use to travel, spend quality time with friends & family, go for walks, have dance parties, daydream, learn new things, make things, write...

And admittedly ideate, brainstorm and be creative around business things too, because I also love to do that, and because I have the freedom and energy to follow my creative flow.

That means, if I have inspiration come through, I can choose to use that free time to run with it.

And, trust me, I don't take it for granted at all, because I used to work over 50 hours a week (sometimes at 3 different jobs!).

I know what it's like for the idea of 'time-freedom' to sound abstract, far-fetched, or too good to be true.

Here's what I also know:

Many business owners are working more than the 15 hours a week I work because they want to be (yay to doing what you want!), which I celebrate fully.

I also know that despite doing what you love, you are still working more than what you want to be.

You're working a lot more than what feels good for you.

Time-freedom might mean one thing for me, and something completely different for you.

So I really want you to take a moment, and feel into - what would time freedom feel like, for you?

What does more time-freedom make possible, for you?

Connect to that feeling, and imagine running your business and offering your work to the world from that place.

For me, time-freedom leads to creativity.

When I have time-freedom, I have space for inspiration to come through.

And when inspiration comes through, I have the space to follow the calling and surrender fully to the creative energy.

I get to make really cool things happen in my business, and to serve my community from a place of creativity and inspiration.

This is why I truly believe that taking more time to be in your process, to allow your inspiration to come through, is a pleasurable efficiency loop.

This is how 'taking' time, becomes more generative than knuckling down and sticking to an always-on, always-productive mode of being.
