The Answer to Feeling Stuck and Lonely
I am a firm believer in having a long term business "success circle." One part of that success circle is a coach or mentor. Imagine having your regular session with your coach/mentor and not only does she really draw out of you your juiciest, best ideas but she also ensures it feels true and authentic to you. She knows you - like really gets you and cares what's happening in your life (not just in business, after all the rest of life affects how we are in business).
She's someone you can count on to give you honest, loving feedback and to hold you to your biggest dreams instead of letting you play small.
Imagine having that person invested and focused on you and your success for 6 months. Feels pretty good doesn't it?
I've worked with a wide variety of people, in a wide variety of ways to support me in my journey to getting this far in my business (before that I tried doing it alone. It sucked.).
Today I want to share with you the importance and the benefits of long term, intimate mentorship and support.
First lets clarify how long exactly "long term" support is.
Typically it's anywhere between 6 months and 2 years. Personally, I've found around 6 -12 months to work best for me.
Long term support is best for those who have a goal/dream/experience they want to reach and the mentor or group chosen usually has past that point themselves and has the common goal of supporting you get from where you are to then reach that specific goal.
Instead what I see happening a lot are women buying course after course or single sessions from a series of different people - bouncing all over the place. While there is benefit to receiving specialized support for different areas of your business, for example having a graphic designer, virtual assistant, or speaking coach - great, but taking 2 different courses and then buying single sessions from 3 different coaches in the same area could just end up being distracting.
The downsides of NOT having long-term, intimate support are:
Lack of consistent accountability
Mixed messages and information overload = overwhelm and lack of momentum
Feeling alone
Staying stuck for WAY longer than necessary
The benefits to having this long term, intimate support:
Maximize your time, effort and momentum -> You've got someone who really gets to know you, your strengths, weaknesses, fears, habits, dreams and goals
Consistent honest feedback (that fits for who you are)
Reduce overwhelm - you receive the focused support you need to get you to point b without the clutter and wondering what to do next
Get faster results
Save and make more money
Knowing you aren't alone
Move through challenges quickly
Play bigger than you ever have before and feel
One of the biggest ways entrepreneurs (and women in general) sabotage themselves is by trying to go at it alone and to not really receive the support they truly need.
So, I leave you with this:
Is not receiving long term, committed support and mentorship holding you back? Is it a form of self sabotage or playing small? Are you making excuses?
Take action today to start building this support into your life. Start off by getting clear on what you'd like it to look and feel like.
Have fun!
