4 Lessons To Consider Before Growing Your Business

There was a moment in my business when I felt a subconscious pressure to go “bigger.”  My mind easily convinced me that it was about purpose and impact.  

Now that I had experienced a certain level of success (6 figure launches, awesome client results, etc.) my next step must be to have a BIGGER launch with 100 new clients instead of 25 - more people, more impact, you know?

Now I will say this is a very REAL, authentic drive, vision and purpose for some.  This is why it was so sneaky for me, and easy for me to think it was MY dream and purpose. 

I saw what other people were doing to have those bigger launches, and assumed that I couldn’t keep doing the things that worked for me to get there… I’d have to start doing the things that worked for others. 

So, I hired a launch manager, FB ads manager, designer and copywriter.  

All these people so I could feel more supported… and yet, I felt like I had more work than ever.  

I was doing ALL the things I thought I should be doing, instead of tuning into and doing only the things that I was meant to do.  

I woke up one morning in Mexico with anxiety washing over my body.   I had so much to do that I was staying at the house to work instead of going to the beach with my loved ones.  

My core values of enjoyment, efficiency, Truth (in this case my truth) and freedom were not being honored or embodied.  

That launch ended up having no more people enrolling than past launches, and there was less profit due to the increase of expenses. 

For some tangible numbers, I brought in about 20-25 awesome humans (and had planned for 100), and $20,000 instead of $100k.  

Most importantly though - I did NOT feel the way I wanted to feel through that experience. 

I vowed that day I missed the beach with friends that I would never make this mistake again. 

When the time came for my next launch I remembered this vow.  

I tuned into what I really wanted for myself and my clients - depth, intimacy, connection, lasting transformation.  

I remembered that my particular impact comes from depth and the ripple effect that comes from the work I do with clients - not from the number of clients I work with. 

I wanted the experience of calling those women in to be magical and feel enjoyable and embodied.  

I let that lead me.  

That ended up being the most fun, relatively easeful launch - bringing in a small group of women that many, many years later I still connect with and receive gratitude from.  The impact continues to ripple out and as a byproduct I also made over $200k.  

The lessons I learned from this experience are so valuable, and ones that I want to share with you:

1. Take the time to actually tune into what you really want and why - be willing to let go of what you think you should do/have, what you used to want and what others are doing.  

2. Take the time to listen to the Guidance on YOUR pathway so you can take the bold, impactful actions that make a difference instead of busying yourself with ALL the actions.

3. Yes, you may have to do things differently to get to your next level of success, but you don’t have to do EVERYTHING differently - don’t lose yourself, your values, and your unique way of doing things in the name of growth.

4. More/Bigger isn’t always better.  Depth and potency can bring about just as much impact.
