Feminine Money Management for New Business Owners

Feminine Money Management for New Business Owners

When you’re working for someone else typically they are fairly in control of your financial situation.  They set when you get paid, how much you get paid, and they take off money for taxes (among other things).

For someone starting a business it can be really confusing and challenging to get a handle on how to manage money in a way that feels good.  Before that happens there is often a feast or famine cycle + not knowing what to spend money on, when and how much those things (that were previously taken care of by your employer) cost.

This most often leads to stress and possibly spending money impulsively instead of on the things you really want and/or need and ultimately living out of alignment.

For anyone in business, there’s a beautiful solution.  Implementing feminine money management.  I call it feminine money management because it’s more in touch with the WHY – why you want something and how you want to feel in having it.  It’s really about how you feel about money.  From there you can rock out your masculine and make it happen.  The whole process allows you to feel in flow and in charge of your money vs.  confused and out of control.

Feminine Money Management in 2 Simple Steps:

Step 1:  Look at what you want and need to spend money on – ALL of it.  Taxes, savings, health, self care, food, travel, the whole shebang.  Some of it may require a little research to see what it will cost per month, for example looking into what tax bracket you are in and what percentage you need to set aside, how much a virtual assistant will be, or a new website.  I recommend breaking it down into how much it will cost per month, and when something is not a monthly expense figure out how much it is per year then divide by 12.

Step 2:  From there think about why you want those things and how you want to feel in having or experiencing them.  When spending money (even on taxes) you can think about why it’s important to you and how you want to feel about it and allow yourself to sink into that vs. the grumble of how much you hate spending money on it.  *I like to hand write this process.

For example:

Taxes.  I feel responsible, prepared and like I am supporting my community and being supported by my community.  Investment: $1800/m

2 bedroom home close to the ocean.  I feel at home, cozy, breezy, fresh and inspired.  The extra space allows me to happily welcome guests and still feel spacious.  I have room to create, cuddle and have fun.  Investment: $1500/m

Recommended for accelerated & exquisite results: Each month create a desire list of the top 1-3 things you realllly want and exactly how much extra you’ll need to make them happen.  Write both your desire and the total $ amount in a way that looks beautiful to you and post it somewhere very visible.  Brainstorm several ways that you can make that extra cash and then go out and take action on them.  This is a fun way to stay motivated and to ensure you aren’t overspending on luxury/desire items and instead you are working towards them and then rewarding yourself.

While doing this you’ll start putting your money where you really want it, and feel good about it.  Whether it’s paying off debt and saving for a vacation, hiring a chef and cleaner, getting that new website design or business coach, you’ll know where your priorities are at and how to organize your money to meet those priorities.  You’ll start feeling how you want to feel – about money, your investments and life in general.
